Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Argent, five bendlets Gules, on a low mount an oak tree fructed Proper, within a bordure diminished gyronny of eight Azure and Gray.  Attached below the shield a Silver scroll inscribed FACIENDUM EST in Red letters.

Symbolism
The shield is in the colors of the Corps of Engineers, the tree represents the Meuse-Argonne operations and the bordure recalls the blue and gray division.  The motto translates to It Must Be Done.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 104th Engineer Regiment on 3 April 1926.  It was redesignated for the 104th Engineer Battalion on 30 June 1942.  It was redesignated for the 104th Armored Engineer Battalion on 2 August 1949.  The insignia was redesignated for the 104th Engineer Battalion on 5 July 1961.  It was rescinded/cancelled on 2 February 2015.
